Don't Forget!

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103: 2-5

In the hustle and bustle of this season we need to remember the real reason for the season. It is so easy to get sidetracked by our never-ending to do list,  piles of presents still to be wrapped and all the food in our fridge that will need to be cooked. But there is one gift God gave us that is unwrapped, ready and waiting to be poured out onto us each and everyday if we would only take the time to stop and receive it...God's greatest gift of love, His son Jesus.

In the above scripture, David tells us "not to forget". This world wants to drown out the voice of the holy spirit and captivate our attention with the demands of work and family. We can easily forget the benefits of being a born again believer. But what I love even more about this scripture is that it goes on to explain and REMIND us of what those benefits are:

~FORGIVES all our sins

~HEALS all of our diseases

~REDEEMS our lives from the pit...AMEN!

~CROWNS us with love and compassion

~SATISFIES our desires with good things

~RENEWS our youth like an eagle's

Just sit and let that soak in. Despite that new pair of boots or that giftcard or that new sweater you hope you get for Christmas, you have already received the best gift anyone could ever receive...the gift of God's love. The privilege of being a believer in Jesus Christ. The gift that FORGIVES, HEALS, REDEEM, CROWNS, SATISFIES, and RENEWS, like no other material thing on this world could ever offer you.

So this season, don't forget his benefits...his gift to you this year and every year. Find someone this year or even into the next to share this gift with.

God bless you this holiday season and Merry Christmas!
