Breaking Bondage

"They will rebuild ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations." Isaiah 61:4

A very long time ago I learned that in my family line was generations of women who have dealt with anxiety, fear and depression. Wouldn't you know that those would be the issues that would rear up their ugly heads for me to have to deal with? When I sought the Lord for my healing and deliverance from generational bondage I told the Lord, "It stops with me, I refuse to let this pass on to my children so do whatever you need to, to help me get it out of my future generations." So in dealing with these issues it meant I needed to face them, not run away from them. I couldn't act like they weren't there either. When God brought that to my mind, I realized that I wasn't meant to conquer these big things alone but in a partnership with Him to seek Him for answers and healing.

I needed God to allow the Holy Spirit to bring to light unhealthy mindsets and wrong behavior patterns.  I needed to see where I was allowing footholds for the enemy. So layer by layer and day by day, sometimes it feels moment by moment, God is taking my broken pieces and fragments of my heart to rebuild the woman He created me for.

We all have vicious cycles in our history: addiction, alcoholism, pornography, homosexuality, abuse, eating disorders, etc... But when we can learn to recognize what might be our insecure areas, our vulnerable moments and which weapons the enemy might try to fashion against us, then we can be ready to take a stand with our shields of faith! We need to ask the Lord to give us a new vision for our future and move on from the past. For some of you, he might make your past your testimony which he wants to use and share with others about the incredible saving power of his grace and mercy. But don't fear, I know I wanted to move on and not think about it. But if God wants to use my story to encourage others I let Him. He equips me to do what I need to do and in the process of encouraging you, it encourages me also.

Do not allow the enemy to further torment you with your past, but remind him of his future! His days are numbered! I also know that I come from another line of strong Godly women that have taken their stand, such as my mother and her knowledge of the weapons of warfare. I am grateful for her amazing testimony and encouragement over the years. I also have a grandmother that is the most incredible, God-fearing, woman I have ever met and I just love to pick her brain for bible knowledge and it  motivates me to keep persevering through any trial! The most important family line I need to be aware of, though, is that I am in a new royal blood line and a daughter of the Most High King! His blood covers my sins and my failures ultimately!

"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off the old self, which is being corrupted by it's deceitful desires;  to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4: 22-24

A quote from Beth Moore's "Breaking Free" bible study says this:
"Every generation has a new opportunity to exert positive influence. No matter what atrocity has taken place in your family line. God can raise up a new generation and turn the cycle in the direction of godly seed...Between every faithful generation and unfaithful generation is one person determined to change."

Ask the Lord today to help you be that change! Together you  and Him can rebuild ancient ruins to be more beautiful than they were before!
