Life has shown me a great deal of difficulty but those difficulties do not define me. No,
they have simply been an aid in drawing me nearer to God with a faith that is bold and
sure.
It would be impossible to go into the details of the last seven years with such a limited
amount of space. God has seen us through unimaginable circumstances including,
infertility, three premature babies, two miscarriages, nearly losing a child from a post-
surgery complication and many more. With each valley experience, the Lord has given
more reasons to shout His praises and celebrate in His faithfulness.
There is a song that I find myself singing often called “My Lighthouse” by Rend
Collective. Growing up on the east coast of Canada and the Peggy’s Cove lighthouse
being a place of familiarity, together with where my faith journey has brought me to at
the present time make the lyrics of this song such an accurate articulation of my heart. I
have to share them with you:
"My Lighthouse" – Rend Collective
In my wrestling and in my doubts
In my failures You won't walk out
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
You are the peace in my troubled sea
In the silence, You won't let go
In my questions, Your truth will hold
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
My Lighthouse, my lighthouse
Shining in the darkness, I will follow You
My Lighthouse, my Lighthouse
I will trust the promise,
You will carry me safe to shore
Safe to shore
I won't fear what tomorrow brings
With each morning I'll rise and sing
My God's love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
Fire before us, You're the brightest
You will lead us through the storms
Friend, do not allow the weight of your circumstances to pull you under the water. The
Lord has created us to stand confidently on His promises {“…and because of His glory
and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that
enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by
human desires.” 2 Peter 1:4}, equipped to extinguish the fiery arrows the enemy will
throw your way {“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16} and bring Him glory
in all things! {“…and whatever you do, whether in words or in deed, do it all in the name
of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17}
Find renewed purpose in your sufferings. {“For I consider that the sufferings of the
present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed in us.”
Romans 8:18} With this purpose seek the Lord with all your might, especially during
hard times, and allow His shining light to guide you to the safety of His embrace.

Mandy is the president and founder of the ministry blog ‘We are His daughters’
and thoroughly enjoys writing and providing leadership to this ministry. Mandy is an
imperfect work in progress! She loves the Lord with her whole heart and counts it her
biggest privilege to serve Him in ministry however He leads. Born and raised in Nova
Scotia, she now resides in southern Ontario with her family. She has been married to her
handsome husband Nathan for 10 years and together they have served in ministry for the
entirety of their marriage. Nathan & Mandy have four beautiful children; Benjamin,
Sophia; Spencer & Grayson. Mandy is passionate about singing, worship leading and
music. She loves reading, writing, taking pictures, studying the bible and sipping salted
caramel mocha’s at Starbucks while chatting with a friend! She strives to be tidier, more
organized (yes, she is a little compulsive!), a little more Martha Stewart-esque, and a
little less ‘unglued’. Most of all she seeks to be holier and to love God through serving
her family and her community.
(This post was written by blogger Mandy Hill as a part of the Our Heart's Song Series this month. I encourage you to read her story and check out her blog and Facebook page. This is one of the many incredible women that I will have the privilege to meet at the SheSpeaks Conference, at the end of this month, where over 800 women across the world will gather together and ask God to take us to the next level in our speaking/writing ministry. I ask that you would please pray for each woman as she shares her story.)
Love the posts and this blog! Praying for everyone attending this wonderful opportunity! Love mom
