"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Matt.11-28
Worry
is something we come into contact with a lot more than we think. We worry about
our bills, our jobs or lack thereof. We worry about our health, children,
marriage, and weight. We worry about important elections and even the weather
forecast. The news and magazines don’t help. We are constantly fed by numerous
media outlets of everything negative. You have to look with a magnifying glass
it seems to find something positive.
Worrying distracts us from trusting. If
we give the Lord, daily, our concerns over all of these different things, then
we can trust He will take care of them. Now of course we don’t need to just sit
back and do nothing while expecting everything, but act in faith trusting that
through the help of the Holy Spirit, He will direct us to a solution that will
meet that particular need. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all
your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge
him and He will make your paths straight.” God asks us to give Him these issues
and stop burdening ourselves with putting the whole world on our shoulders.
When we can enter His rest and truly begin to trust Him to work in our life, we
can really learn to let go and let God take control.
In Matthew 6: 27, it asks "Who by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" No one! In fact, it steals hours from your life. It affects others around you and even your health. I encourage you today, (I am doing this myself as well), to stop worrying and begin trusting. You can't do both at the same time. If you are worrying, you aren't trusting. If you are trusting then begin to take the next step and start discerning. Follow the peace that comes from walking in God's will and know you are taking a step in the right direction.
Whenever I am tempted to worry, I love to listen to this song. It is called "Be Still" by Kari Jobe. It reminds me to stop and wait patiently on the Lord and His leading and most importantly...His timing.
What a beautiful message and song! I was having some quiet time this morning and this is just what I needed to hear! Keep blogging and blessing me and others! Love, Mom
